Greetings in the Name Above All Names!
IS IT OVER YET? – I find myself wishfully thinking, “Is it over yet?” Scripture teaches us everything has a season. Aren’t seasons supposed to have an ending? For example, take the winter we are having here in Nebraska. Just when you thought it could not possibly snow anymore, it snows. And then some more again. Not to mention it comes with record-breaking, below-zero temperatures. Do not get me wrong, I am one of those guys who likes winter and loves snow, but even I have my LIMITS. We each do. If it is not the weather, it may be this pandemic, the divisive politics, or a family dynamic. We each have limits, and the key is not to ignore or suppress our limitations but to be honest to God about them while posturing ourselves to hear the truth. We are all living through a season, and sometimes there are seasons inside the season, but here is the truth: God’s got this, and God’s got you! In fact, He is using this season to draw you closer to Himself. Solomon got it right when he said, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
Imagine yourself sitting down to have a cup of joe with the apostle Paul listening to his encouragement: “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9) There is that word again: season. A harvest season is coming for God’s people. Do not lose hope, instead be filled with anticipation while leaning in to trust God’s timing.
THIS WEEKEND… We dive back into John’s Gospel. Last weekend the greatest man met the greatest lamb. I still hear pastor Lance’s words in my mind. “We may want a lion, but what we need is a lamb.” I so love John the Baptist’s revelation of Jesus: “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29) I am so excited to be on this journey with you. I hope you join me this weekend, either in-person or online!
